美國白宮網(wǎng)站是最富盛名的Google炸彈例子。2003年10月，一個(gè)叫George Johnston的人成功號召一些人用“miserable failure”(德收)這個(gè)關(guān)鍵詞為錨文字，鏈接向美國白宮網(wǎng)站布什總統的個(gè)人介紹頁(yè)(http:/www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html)。兩個(gè)月后，在Google搜索“miserable failure”，布什的這個(gè)個(gè)人介紹頁(yè)升到第一，搜“failure"”的時(shí)候也是第一。而在這個(gè)頁(yè)面中，不論是miserable、failure，或是miserable failure，都沒(méi)有出現過(guò)。



2006年9月，大白宮有人試圖扭轉Google炸彈所造成的影響，把介紹布什的這個(gè)網(wǎng)頁(yè)做了S轉向到介紹所有總統的一個(gè)通用頁(yè)面(htp/www.whitehouse.gow/president)

結果跳轉傳輸了鏈接權重和錨文字，這個(gè)并不是特別給哪一位總統準備的頁(yè)面，在搜索miserable failure”時(shí)排到了第一。

2007年1月，Google對算法做了修正，防止Google炸彈的發(fā)生。對具體算法 Google并沒(méi)做出解釋?zhuān)膊惶赡芙忉專(zhuān)驗檫@涉及Google算法中非常核心的部分。

眾所周知，鏈接是Google排名中最重要的因素之一，哪些鏈接會(huì )被賦予權重，哪些會(huì )被降權甚至忽略，Google當然不會(huì )告訴我們。

Google做了調整后，大部分Google炸彈現象消失了。搜索“miserable failure"時(shí)，白宮的頁(yè)面已經(jīng)找不到了。
 
一般猜想Google預防Google炸彈的改變有這么幾項:

短時(shí)間內大量外部鏈接指向某個(gè)頁(yè)面時(shí)，有可能是Google炸彈?這個(gè)頁(yè)面并沒(méi)有出現鏈接中所用的關(guān)鍵詞銷(xiāo)文字關(guān)鍵詞錨文字是負面名詞。

2007年4月，在Google搜索“failure”時(shí)，白宮的總統介紹頁(yè)面再次排到了第一名不過(guò)這次是白宮自找的，因為他們在網(wǎng)頁(yè)上放上了“failure”這個(gè)詞

In a time of war, it's irresponsible for the... Democratic leadership in Congress to delay for months on end while our troops in combat are waiting for the funds. The bottom line is this: Congresss failure to fund our troops on the front lines will mean that some of our military families could wait longer for their loved ones to return from the front lines. And others could see their loved ones headed back to the war sooner than they need to. That is unacceptable to me and I believe it is unacceptable to the American people.

這樣，本來(lái)與Failure這個(gè)詞不相關(guān)的網(wǎng)頁(yè)一下子變得相關(guān)了，預防ogle炸彈的算法失去了作用。

2009年7月，還有人繼續惡作劇，在Google搜索“worst failure ever”(史上最大的夫敗)時(shí)，排在第一的是網(wǎng)站設計白宮網(wǎng)站現任總統奧巴馬的介紹頁(yè)面。不過(guò)隨著(zhù)網(wǎng)民的討論，Google很快采取了措施 。
